Support Viktor Devonne's Silver Tusk Awards

Greetings, friends! This is Viktor Devonne, the proprietor of the Silver Tusk Awards and I am excited to begin promotion for the 9th annual Silver Tusk Awards!

Originally, the Tusks were held in person at Rockbar NYC as part of the White Elephant Burlesque residency and to celebrate participants who were in our productions. Our first iteration was a planned one-shot theme show on January 11, 2017 and because it was so well received by the community there, it became a regular event in January for 2018 through 2020. When I moved to Southern California and White Elephant Burlesque ceased our regular events at Rockbar, I didn't know what was to come mere days later when the world shut down for COVID-19. In an effort to boost spirits, I held a digital version in January 2021, and then again in 2022.

Realizing this was larger than the scope of our time in New York, these online variations have now expanded to include folks from all over the world. This still meant it's still a one-person financial operation from conception, website programming, promotion, vote tally, hiring talent for the event, and the ever-important gift bags (with the awards themselves) now being shipped all over the world.

Funds collected from all donations will go to the winner's gift bags (and those given to VIP attendees and other special folks) to improve the quality and prestige of the contents (whilst also contributing to the burlesque community by featuring merch and items from within the nightlife community), shipping these bags to the winners via USPS when possible, administrative costs, including web and promotional services, advertising, and good golly, marketing expenses including web hosting.

The idea is to make this silly little award show truly representative of the field of burlesque entertainment, and return to a live production within the next 2-3 years. Funding these next variations will be crucial to gauge interest, further the "brand" (ugh that word), and expand our reach to truly include folks from everywhere.

Voting begins in November. Nominees will be revealed in December. The digital award show will be January 2025.
