Support Wanda Slater's Funeral Expenses

Hello my name is Francois Slater. The purpose of this gofundme account is to raise money for a funeral for my mother Wanda Slater, because she didn't have any life insurance (unfortunately). My mother, Wanda Slater was born March 9, 1943 in the state of Little Rock Arkansas. Soon her parents, Dowey and Neicy Mc Coy moved to California when Wanda was just about 2 years old. Then, as she became an adult she got married to Wendall Slater. My mother and father had 4 children. Briggitte, Tony, Francois ( aka Pierre) and Dominique Slater. When we were just teenagers my mother and father separated. That didn't do so well for us at the time. Fast forward to 2023 of February my mother in up having a stroke. I remember when I was in the living room watching TV and than all of a sudden I heared my sister say " it's an emergency come quick help". My mother was sitting on the toilet conscience but with her eyes closed, tying to open them while blood had bleed on to her pants and on to the floor. I was completely shocked at what I was seeing. I stared to panic. I never seen nothing like this coming. I had to get my self together for the sake of my mom. I told my sister to call 911 while I helped my changed her pants, she was slowly coming back into conscienceness. The ambulance and took her to California Hospital in downtown los Angeles and from there California hospital sent her to Saint Mary's hospital, because that Saint Mary's was more equipt to deal with stroke patients. She was there for about 2 weeks and then she came home. She was still pretty weak for maybe about three weeks. After that, she got better. My mother never liked doctors, hospital like doctors, medicine or hospitals. So she checked herself out. I did urge her to go back, once she got better after the second stroke, I told her to go back and get checked and have some blood blood done, just to see if everything is ok. (that never happened).
In 2024 of this year, in March, that's when the 2nd stoke happen. We new something was wrong because her speech was not clear and her ability to walk was affected, so I figured this most be another stroke. Me and my brother Dominique took her to Cedar Siani.
Now, prior to my mother getting sick she has never been sick before, no medication no operations ect. She was a pretty healthy person. No pork no beef. However, what I did realize later (for the last 2 years) is that she was indulging too heavily in sour cream. Come to find out much later that sour cream has 30mg of cholesterol per severing size. That would be about 2 table spoons per serving size. This may have been the deciding factor, I don't know. I don't fully realize that Cedar Siani, until later was the 1# hospital in the country. My had doctor after doctor for this and that, and a group of doctors came speak to her about her conditions, to see they can resolve them. My mother's feet were swelled, which I found out that EDEMA, that effects the heart, causes swelling. The hospital gave her medication and they puts boot thing on her legs to prevent blood clots. Once my mother's swelling went down my was trying listen to the doctors any more. She told me that "I'm getting out of this hospital". I told her "these doctors are here to help you ". She was not trying to here that and checked herself out of Cedar Siani. She should've never left that hospital. The aftermath of those two strokes 2023 and 2024 started to show itself coming Cedar Siani hospital. Her feet and legs were starting swell, and she was eating less and losing more weight. I still urged her, once again to at least go get checked. She told me stop bothering with her. So I did, but I know it was not going to be good, but I could not imagine she would pass away so quickly. I thought that she would get better. Nurses came over to aid and help with my mother's conditions. One day a therapy nurse came over and he saw that my mother's oxygen level was way too low so he called 911. They took her to Gardena memorial hospital. I end up not liking the overall treatment of my mother and me too as well. The doctor for my mother too evasive, and at times hard to get in contact with. One day I called the the doctor and he said "I have to call you back." I said "what happed." He said "Your mother's mental state has been greatly effected." So said to him "what do you mean?" He said "I don't know right now, we have run some tests, MRI'S, I'lllet about the test results. " Still, to this very day, that doctor never told me about any test results, as to the reason why my mother could not speak any more. On the day of August 3, 2024 I was the at the hospital 4 hours with my mother. I held her hand, ran I noticed that she held my my hand very firmly, with a lot of strength. Kept in mind that she couldn't talk any and she had hardly no movement once she went into this extrem mental state. After some time in mother's hospital room I decided to go down stairs, next thing get a call coming in on my cell phone the hospital. I answered and the nurse said "You better get up here, it's a code blue, your mother's heart just stopped. " I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I quickly went up the 4th floor. There was a team of people working on my mother. I couldn't stand to look at that scene. I was praying for dare life. Then they said that "She has a heart beat." At that point they took her to ICU. So I waited in the waiting room. 15 minutes later they said that heart stopped again, and then 5 minutes later a nurse opened the ICU door and said "she didn't make it." Everthing in my body seem to just crazy and nomb. I laid on the floor in disbelief. I was dumbfounded. I did not want to believe this was true. I had call my bother and my sister and tell them, mama don't make it. So this my testimony about my mother's passing. Always love each other and understand how we need to forgive before we leave this earth. My mother is no longer suffering, she no worries. We all have to go should this passing of the flesh. Yahweh will have the last word, Haljuhah. Thank you everyone who read my story of my mother's passing Wanda Slater. Keep in mine I can not set a funeral date until I have the necessary funds. Your donations will be well received. Thank you Thank you Thank you. bless you all. God bless us all.
