On Saturday, December 21st, we invite the Westhampton Beach community and our neighbors to take the plunge and help support Westhampton Ambulance Volunteer Water Rescue Squad (WAVWRS) in our mission to to provide on-call specialized water rescue services within our coverage area.

This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000, and with your generous support, we know we can reach it.

Your contributions help us provide life-saving assistance to our neighbors in need—whether it's rescuing a struggling swimmer, recovering a drowning victim, or educating the public on water safety.

All proceeds from this event will directly support our volunteer, Water Rescue Program of Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance, which serves the communities of Eastport, Speonk, Remsenburg, Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, Quiogue, Quogue, and Westhampton Dunes. Rescue Swimmers are members of Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance Association (WWMAA) and respond to water-based emergency calls. Friends of the Westhampton Ambulance, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in 1992, accepts donations on behalf of the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance Association (WWMAA) as part of the tax district.

What is WAVWRS?

WAVWRS was established in 2022 with the goal of providing an additional layer of safety for our water-surrounded communities. Our team consists of highly trained ocean lifeguards with extensive experience in water rescue, along with experts from various fields including medicine, firefighting, law enforcement, and engineering. We are dedicated to preventing drownings and saving lives along Dune Road, especially during times when lifeguards are off-duty.

Why We Need Your Support

To ensure our rescue team has the equipment it needs to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively, we are raising funds to upgrade our rescue Jetski and other vital equipment. These upgrades are essential to meet industry standards and ensure our team is fully equipped for future rescues.

The Ice Plunge Fundraiser is our way of bringing the community together to support WAVWRS while raising awareness of water safety. Participants will brave the chilly waters of Rogers Beach in an effort to raise funds, and we’re inviting you to be part of this exciting event!

Participation: We encourage yourself, your team or employees to take part in the Ice Plunge! It's a fun and memorable way to show your support for WAVWRS and the safety of our community. If you're not ready to take the plunge, you can still make a donation and encourage others to get involved.
