HADEEL’S STORY:

"Hello, I am Hadeel from the south of the Gaza Strip."

Hadeel was studying to be a nurse before their university, home, car, and family business were bombed. She and her family have been displaced since October 2023. They have had to flee bombed areas multiple times and relocate for their safety.

Hadeel has reached out to me, Anais (the organizer of this GoFundMe), to raise donations for her family’s well being, their escape from occupied Gaza, and the needs and joys of the many displaced Gaza children. Many of the children camped in her tent city have lost their parents to the bombings, including Hadeel’s sister Ola’s newborn, who’s husband was also killed. “Here, there are many frustrated and desperate Palestinian children who have stopped going to school. I want to make them happy.”

Hadeel hopes “to relieve them of their hardship” by providing food, clean water, medication, clothes, shelter (tents), and also access to joyful moments (like candies).

Hadeel has asked to share the story of Baby Soha, one of the many newborns who have lost their parents to the bombardment.

Hadeel's sister, Ola, was pregnant at the start of their displacement. She recently gave birth to a happy newborn in October, and both are healthy, thank God. Ola also needs assistance to care for her baby since Ola’s husband was killed in the bombardment.

“The situation is getting worse here. The enemy is threatening to enter the country. We are tired of the sounds of bombing and explosions,” Hadeel tells me. “I will now be displaced from Rafah to another place.”

Unfortunately, there is a price-tag on the safety and wellbeing of Hadeel, their family, and the many displaced children camped around their tent. Estimates to leave Gaza once the borders open are around $15,000 USD per person. Food to sustain Hadeel’s family and the orphans is also extremely expensive, with a sack of flour ranging from $150 USD in the south to $1000 USD in the north.

  • Hadeel’s sister Ola has given birth to a healthy newborn. They are currently searching for more stable and safe housing for them all to better care for the baby. With winter approaching, their tents have been damaged and flooded by the severe rains. They have managed to make some repairs, but they still need winter clothes for their family of 12 as the weather continues to get much colder.

  • The bombs have not stopped. Hadeel has reported bullets falling at the feet of her family (pictured), fires at nearby tents, and also the constant sound of drones that surveil her camp.
