Honoring Wendy's Lifelong Passion for Animals
Tax deductible
Wendy was a remarkable individual with an unparalleled love for animals. She often said, “I like animals more than people,” a sentiment that drove her relentless dedication to animal care and advocacy. It all started with her love for squirrels! She extended her love and affection to all creatures, big and small, including raccoons, cats, dogs, donkeys, possums, and ducks.
Wendy and Ed had a unique talent for taming feral cats, turning them from wary strays into affectionate companions. They were deeply involved in Trap-Neuter-Release program, a humane method of managing and reducing feral cat populations.
She wanted her legacy to live on through helping animals. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Washington County Humane Society in her honor.
Wendy was born April 29th, 1959, to Robert and Jeanne (nee Brickson) Nelson.
Wendy had a passion for caring for animals. She and her late partner, Edward Wahoviak rescued 6 donkeys, and numerous feral cats. They participated in the TNR program through the Washington County Humane Society and were even able to tame many of the feral cats and bring them in their home as pets. Wendy was also a business woman. She owned and operated Search Partners for many years and worked with US Bank in the recruiting department for the last several years. Wendy enjoyed spending time with her friends, having “deck” parties, and looking for good deals. She was an avid thrifter and lived for rummage sale season.
Wendy is survived by her sister, Patti Nelson, Son, Russell (Erin) Schoepke, grandson, Russell Schoepke Jr. “RJ”, sister and brother-in law, Kathy and John Wahoviak, all of Minocqua, friends Roxanne, Donna, Laurie Johnson, Jen, Darren, and many others.
She is preceded in death by her significant other Edward Wahoviak, and parents, Robert & Jeanne Nelson.
A Celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at a later date.
