Amanda (31) was first diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer in December of 2018. She completed 3 months of IV chemo, a lumpectomy, radiation and oral chemo and was considered NED (No Evidence of Disease). Praise the Lord!! However, Amanda statistically was more prone to having it come back because she didn’t have a complete response to the chemotherapy. They still had to remove a small amount of cancer during the lumpectomy. Rightfully so, this fact caused anxiety and worry to creep into the celebration of being NED. If it did come back, it would be considered stage 4 and doesn’t have a cure.
Fast forward to the week of Christmas in 2020. She woke up one morning with a slight cough. Nothing a ‘regular’ person would ever be alarmed with. After several back and forth doctor appointments, they completed a chest x-ray that showed three lung nodules. From there, Amanda had a CT scan and then a lung biopsy. Her Dr. called the next day and shared the cancer is back. Stage 4.
Below is what she shared after receiving the news…"I hung up the phone and continued that walk and felt the definition of "peace that passes understanding." It was really an out of body experience. Do not get me wrong. I have been struggling. But for the most part I am thankful. Thankful for ALL the things. Thankful that this isn't my battle, but His. Letting go of that worry is a part time job, but we are learning."
Our hearts ache at this news that has rocked the Westhouse family yet again! But what we do know, is that Amanda is a fighter and we serve a mighty God. We are truly in awe of her strength and faith, which are fueled by the love she has for her husband, Gage, daughter Ellery (14), and two sons Coleson (7) and Layf (4).
There is no doubt that she will continue to fight with true bravery and grace. Please join us in storming the gates of Heaven and pray for God to move mountains and continue to cover the Westhouse family in peace that passes all understanding!
As she is on this journey, we know their family will encounter unexpected expenses. We put this together to support them prayerfully and financially as they navigate these uncertain times. Thank you in advance for your all the support, generosity and love shown to the Westhouse family!
