Support Wilder's Fight Against Leukemia

Making a post because I want as many people praying for my baby as possible

Update: He has T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). We are looking at around 3 years of treatment plans, staying here this month, with weekly visit for the next 9 months. We are at 50/50 chance of dialysis tonight. I appreciate & see all the comments/messages but won’t be able to process reading them until he’s back in procedures tomorrow

Wilder’s been battling a flu & what we thought was pneumonia for the last 3 weeks. His Dr sent us to the ER last night & they now believe he has leukemia.

We have been admitted to oncology at Children’s Health in Dallas, currently doing all kinds of labs/tests/ultrasounds to determine what kind. Tomorrow is a spinal tap & taking bone marrow from his hip bone, plus installing a port to start chemotherapy. Right now his potassium is spiking & his kidneys are twice the size they should be, they are trying different things to get it down so he doesn’t wind up in the ICU before treatment starts. They’ve told us to plan for being here at least a month, & that’s just the first phase of treatment.

And to just make it even more worrisome, we’re between insurance because of the move and I’m not sure what/if we’ll get covered and am just trying to plan to avoid panic. Planning & focusing on the next step in front of us is the only thing keeping me together. I’m currently with him in the hospital, Scott’s home with the kids, & trying to plan what the next month looks like for who goes where to make sure Wilder’s never alone but the other 6 kids are all still where they need to be, when they need to be.

Prayers are what we want most. The Dude has had to fight every day of his life it seems like & my heart is broken knowing I can’t really do anything for him, other than lay here & snuggle while they work. I’ve told him his body has good guys & bad guys right now so we’re trying to help the good guys get rid of all the bad guys. That’s about all he understands.
