Help William Recover After a Hit-and-Run Accident
Let’s join together as a community and help support William (Will) Holmes, our favorite local Domino’s night shift manager, and his fiancée Elizabeth Averette during this incredibly challenging time.
On New Year’s Eve, Will (a Vestavia Hills resident) was walking home to his from his shift at the Domino’s on Columbiana Road when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Jacobs Rd and Anna Steele Ln. in Vestavia Hills. The driver fled the scene but was later identified and charged. While justice is in progress, Will has been left with life-altering injuries and faces a long road to recovery.
About Will
Will is one of the kindest, most hardworking people you’ll meet. He’s a loving father, a devoted partner, and someone who takes great pride in providing for his family. His strength and resilience are remarkable, but this accident has turned his world upside down.
Will has shared custody of his daughter, Ava. Ava is extremely close to her younger sister Alayah. And although Alayah is not Will’s daughter, Will and Elizabeth make every effort to ensure Alayah can stay together with her sister Ava as well. This loving arrangement allows the girls to maintain their close bond.
As a result of the hit-and-run, Will has undergone multiple surgeries and now has plates and rods in his fractured left arm. He’s in a cast from wrist to shoulder, which he’ll need to wear for at least six months, potentially longer depending on his healing process which will also require extensive recovery and physical therapy. Additionally, he suffered a broken toe and a concussion, which can affect him long term as well. Not to mention all the bruises all over his body and sores.
The Need:
Elizabeth is working tirelessly and seeking additional opportunities to make ends meet, but her income alone is not enough to cover the mounting costs. Medical bills, follow-up appointments, physical therapy (starting 1/22/25), and everyday living expenses are overwhelming. Will’s recovery means he won’t be able to return to work for the foreseeable future.
This fundraiser is to help alleviate this financial burden. Every donation, no matter the size, will go toward:
• Medical bills (hospital stays, surgeries, follow-ups)
• Physical therapy and related recovery needs
• Day-to-day living expenses while Will is unable to work
• Supporting Ava and ensuring both Ava and Alayah can continue to thrive together during this challenging time
• Reducing the stress of financial burdens on Elizabeth only
How You Can Help:
I understand that not everyone can give, but even sharing this page can make a meaningful difference. Your kindness, generosity, and prayers mean the world to us as we navigate this difficult time. Although Will and Elizabeth have consulted with an attorney for guidance on the legal aspects of this situation, the legal process may take time; the support of their community is essential in helping them manage immediate expenses and focus on Will’s recovery during this challenging period.
From the bottom of their hearts, the family thanks you for your support. Whether it’s through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping Will in your thoughts and prayers, you’re making a meaningful impact on his recovery journey.
Let’s come together to help William regain his strength and move forward.
