Support William Bissett's Fight Against ALS

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is William Bissett. Over the past two years I have been battling my diagnosis of ALS. Throughout this time, my wife and I experienced the sorrow of losing a child premature after one week of life, however, this year we’ve had the great joy of having another child who was also born premature, but was able to thrive, and now is back home with us. During all this, my disease was unfortunately progressing as it often does with ALS, but knowing my determination and willpower, I was not going to give up trying to fight this and do any sort of alternative treatment options out there. Last October, I unfortunately had to give up working as a physical therapist as it was getting too physically difficult. Since then, I’ve been getting disability and trying to do a couple hours of working online helping to grade physical therapy case reports. While doing all this, I am trying to seek out every potential alternative treatment option for combating ALS, but unfortunately, none of these are covered by insurance and often very expensive out of pocket costs. Between doing all this as well as caring for a newborn managing household bills, etc. it certainly has not been easy. Since I am unable to physically help with much around the house, including taking care of our son, I’ve tried to help to take the load off everyone else by hiring dog walkers, home health aids, house cleaners. Every week I go to an infusion center, as well as take a significant regimen of supplements to try and slow progression. I have received stem cells twice in the past year with no significant improvements however, I have found another location that does these sorts of treatments a little differently and having success. That being said, I’m going to try this new approach with the stem cells. Just like everything else this is not covered by insurance however, when you are faced with a disease that is crippling and often very quickly progressing with the lifespan averaging 2 to 5 years after diagnosis you want to do everything you possibly can to slow down and be around for as long as you possibly can. My goal is to stay alive maintain as much function as possible and to continue to be a positive influence and inspiration for all people. Also, to be around for my son as long as I can be as he is the biggest bright spot of my life. I have never been someone who asked for much so it’s a lot for me to do this and create this go fund me, however, considering the circumstances I as well as my family are facing any support would be so greatly appreciated and so greatly cherished at this point in time. Thank you all for so much support already.

Sincerely and much love,
William Bissett
