Urgent - Support Willow Curry's Medical Recovery!

Update: thank you all so much for your immediate support! We are able to have Willow covered for the next two weeks thanks to you. We are raising the goal once more, as it’s become clear in making these doctor and specialist appointments that she will need to be in Houston for longer than originally anticipated. Some specialists also do not take insurance which is an added cost, but these specialists are essential for treatment. We are urgently raising funds for Willow Curry’s medical recovery and expenses! Willow is a Black woman writer, multidisciplinary artist, and native Houstonian who has been a prolific member of the arts community in Houston, Texas for 10 years. She has advocated for cultural and community development in Houston as well as public health, especially regarding the creosete contamination in Kashmere Gardens. Having moved to Maryland in 2023 for access to higher-quality health care, her health nevertheless deteriorated from January 2024 to present as a result of living alone in an inaccessible apartment. After a serious episode leading to two ER visits within 12 hours, Willow will be returning to Houston to receive emergency care.

We are aiming to cover expenses for emergency travel, income replacement during recovery time for one month, medical specialist costs, and miscellaneous groceries & supplies. Medical costs include $6100 for a TMJD treatment appliance for jaw arthritis not covered by insurance, rheumatologist and orthopedist visits, physical therapy for scoliosis, and an adaptive diet while jaw pain persists.
