Support Xo Ki’in restoration project
Donation protected
A unique retreat center in the UNESCO protected bio reserve in Mexico is in danger of closing. Recent storms have partially destroyed one of our main buildings and two others need roofing repairs.
How you can help:
Your contributions are pivotal to the unique restoration process of Xo Ki’in Retreat Center, which focuses on sustainability and environmental harmony:
1. Thatching from Nature: Using traditional techniques learned from the local Maya. We source thatching materials directly from our property. By utilizing natural resources found on-site, such as palm leaves, we will not only restore the damaged rooftops but also minimize our ecological footprint.
2. Sustainable Building Practices: The badly damaged building will undergo restoration using post and beam construction which allows for flexibility in high winds to compensate for rising sea levels and increasing storm intensity.
Your donation will directly contribute to these eco-conscious initiatives, reinforcing Xo Ki’in Retreat Center as a unique example of sustainable off grid living. Which means we rely on rain water, solar energy and composting toilets.
Every donation matters for us to continue providing a safe and functional space for retreats in the beautiful Sian Ka’an UNESCO biosphere.
Thank you for your donation to aid Xo Ki’in to continue offering retreats. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
With gratitude,
