Support Yan's Indigenous Comic Translation
Donation protected
Piyali, my name is Yan Garcia and I'm asking for help to translate my comic book [Ink of Anawak] into indigenous languages.
Few books can be found in any indigenous language of this continent, while indigenous youth are left to only Spanish or English translations of their favorite comics. Asking for big-name comic publishers to authorize translations for endangered or minority languages is unrealistic. Few comics are themed in mesoamerica, and almost none are in native languages. Thus, I'm initiating a solution by creating a comic that I will translate to as many indigenous languages as possible, with no limitations from other's copyrights.
I have worked with many artists to bring this comic book to life over the last 2 years, now I just need funds to pay indigenous language translators for each language. Ink of Anawak brings together 8 mini-stories from across different locations and times of mesoamerica.
I have translators for Tzotzil, Yucatec Maya, Nahuatl and more lined up, but I need your help to pay each translator!
Indigenous translators deserve a fair wage too, and I'm dedicated to paying each translator their full requested price.
Thus far, each indigenous language translator asking for about 800-1,300 USD.
If you'd like to see a native language represented, please comment!
