Samah, her husband, and their two children, Youseff and Hoda, have endured unimaginable hardships after being displaced by the ongoing war in Gaza. They are struggling daily to access basic necessities and are now facing even greater challenges as winter intensifies.

A new tent: Their previous tent was destroyed by shrapnel from a nearby bombing, leaving them homeless in the freezing cold.

Warm clothing and blankets: To protect the family, especially the children, from the harsh winter weather.

Food and clean water: They often go hungry and lack access to safe drinking water.

Diapers for Hoda: To ensure basic hygiene and comfort for their baby.

Samah’s family’s situation has become even more critical. A recent bombing in their area destroyed their tent, leaving them without any shelter. Samah had no choice but to move her children to her parents’ overcrowded tent, where the conditions are dire.

With limited space and resources, both families are suffering, and the children are especially vulnerable to hunger and the freezing cold.

The family before the war

Evacuating Samah’s family to safety in Egypt requires substantial funding due to the high costs and logistical challenges involved. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the associated costs:

Evacuation costs: $1,000–$2,000 per adult to cover transportation, processing fees, and logistical arrangements for crossing into Egypt.

$2,500 per child under 12, which includes higher processing fees and specific care needed for children during such a challenging journey.

Passports and documentation: $100–$150 per person for passport applications, which are mandatory for every individual, including children, to cross the border. Without passports, the family cannot leave Gaza.

Border exit fees:$1,000 in total for fees required to exit Gaza through the Rafah crossing into Egypt. These are mandatory charges imposed at the border.

The total cost of evacuation for Samah, her husband, and their two children is overwhelming and far beyond what they can afford.

For this family of four, the evacuation costs alone could exceed $10,000.
