Support your local food system!

Hi, I'm Paul and I'm looking for your help to fund the startup costs for a new series of farmers markets in Belknap County.

My wife and I run a small farm and bakery in Belmont, NH and are entering our fourth year in business. Early on, we realized the value and importance of farmers markets to startup food producers such as ourselves, and also to our community.

During our first year as vendors, we had the idea to create the best farmers markets possible, providing all the promotion, services and support that vendors need to not only survive, but thrive. Since that time, we've been vendors at seven local farmers markets, served on the board of directors of two markets, and have sold our products at numerous community events. Our experiences as vendors over the past three years have shaped what BAMM is today. As a company, BAMM is structured as a benefit corporation, valuing people and planet over profit.

Some of the services BAMM markets will offer:
  • SNAP/EBT
  • Veterans voucher program
  • Gift cards
  • Live music
  • Food trucks
  • Extensive promotion
  • The best times and locations
  • Vendor support (legal, promotion, safety, etc.)
And perhaps most importantly, market sizes will be kept small enough that each vendor can earn a sustainable income. This decision reduces market income from stall fees, but leads to more successful vendors.

For 2024, BAMM will run farmers markets in Tilton, Meredith and Laconia (at Weirs Beach), and we already have over 70 enthusiastic vendors of all food and product types signed up and ready to sell. In support of our vendors we keep our stall fees as low as possible, however providing all the services they need to be truly successful costs more than stall fees alone can cover. Helping with some of those costs is where community members like you come in.

We're asking for your help to cover the startup costs of these markets, including:
  • Canopy tents for the welcome table, musician and for rentals (Approx $1000)
  • Tables and chairs to be used with the above canopy tents (Approx $600)
  • A large tent with tables and benches for eating and relaxing (Approx $900)
  • Signs and banners for the road and market (Approx $500)
  • Business cards (Approx $100)
  • Market booklets (Approx $500)
  • Wireless hotspot, five month data plan, and laptop for market management (Approx $600)
  • Generator for market musician, etc. (solar-powered if possible! - Approx $1000)
  • Van rental for five months (from Arándano Farm, to keep costs down - $3250)

Any size donation helps! These startup costs account for only a small percentage of the markets' total expenses. The more we raise, the more extras we can provide to make the markets even better. Keep in mind that compared to individually run markets, each contribution to BAMM goes three times farther!

Our long-term mission is to revitalize our local food system and small scale agriculture in Belknap County - you can be a part of this important first step!

* Please visit www.bamm-nh.org for information on sponsoring our musicians, becoming an advertising sponsor, attending markets at a sponsor booth, or making a larger tax-deductible donation via the Belknap County Conservation District.

Thanks everyone - we'll see you all soon at the markets!
