Support Zac in this crazy journey

Donation protected
On Friday, 21st April 2023, Zac was in Alice Springs, NT, training for the world-renowned Finke Desert Race.

Sadly, Zac had a very serious motorbike accident and had to be airlifted by the Royal Flying Doctors back to Adelaide, to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

He was rushed into surgery and later received the devastating news about his future: he was paralysed from the chest down. Two 400mm rods and twelve screws were used to decompress and stabilize his spine. Doctors confirmed that his spinal cord injury was classified as complete.

From a young age, Zac has been involved in many sports and has had a competitive spirit. From football and cricket to more extreme sports like dinghy racing, motocross, desert racing, downhill mountain biking, and waterskiing, he has left no stone unturned. He has constantly enjoyed being a part of the sporting community, taking pride in his equipment and pushing himself to be better.

He has worked as a tradesman and travelled across Australia, learning and honing his trade skills in pursuit of his lifelong goal of taking control of the family business.

Throughout these experiences, he has met and built friendships in various work and sporting communities and is well-known by his peers.

This devastating injury, while life-changing, hasn't altered Zac’s zest for life and his love for challenging endeavours. He is looking forward to planning camping trips, traveling, and exploring new places.

As Zac has transitioned from the ICU to the spinal ward, he has taken the time to absorb his new reality and will continue to do so throughout this journey. He has now moved to a rehab facility to start rebuilding his life.

Zac is positive and speaks openly about his experience, struggles, passions, and the tough road ahead that he has to endure. He is keen to get home and return to his life with his girlfriend, Brooke, and their two dogs as soon as possible.

He has taken this accident with the attitude of "It is what it is, and I was doing something I love." His attitude and desire to get back home and on with his life have been nothing but inspirational. His leadership has guided his family and friends through this tough time, and Zac has been remarkably motivational.

Zac is pushing through his rehab training with his normal zest for life. His relationships with the staff and his upbeat attitude is making his journey something for people with similar injuries to aspire to. With every little gain he achieves, you can see his determination, resilience, and will to succeed shine through.

These generous donations will assist Zac with housing, equipment, medical expenses, and other support systems to help him throughout his life.

Any donation is deeply appreciated! Please spread the word and help Zac.
