Support Zach Karpinski's Recovery

Donation protected
On Friday, February 18, 2022, Zach was riding his scooter when he was hit by a car. He was taken to UF Health Shands where he has been in their care ever since. While he is conscious, talking, and each day gets a little better, Zach will need to undergo months of physical therapy following his stay at Shands to be able to walk again and return to normal daily activities. This means he will not be able to maintain most classes or his research, and therefore have to push back some of his academics. This GoFundMe is to support Zach’s family with further unpredictable costs during his recovery process, and his future undergraduate education at the University of Florida.

Thank you to everyone who continues to keep Zach in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his long recovery process!

More about Zach:

Zach is a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Florida where he is pursuing his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Biomolecular Engineering. During his time at UF, he has consistently invested his time in his academics, research, and extra-curricular involvement. As a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Florida Alpha, Zach has served as Vice President of Recruitment, and subsequently the Sigma Challenge Coordinator where he continues to educate younger brothers on the values of the chapter and act as a mentor to them. When looking at today’s Florida Alpha chapter, it is hard to find one active brother that has not been interviewed, recruited, or mentored by Zach at one point during their SigEp experience.

Outside of SigEp, Zach is an outstanding leader in the UF community. Serving as a Florida Cicerone student ambassador, he helps to connect past, present, and future Gators. He has also served as a student government senator and has helped co-author papers for his NASA UF Research Lab. Zach was recently recognized for his leadership on campus when he was inducted into Florida Blue Key, Florida’s most prestigious leadership honorary. Within Florida Blue Key, Zach leads the Freshman Leadership Program, where he has developed two semesters worth of content that seeks to provide resources and mentorship to incoming leaders at the University of Florida. It is evident that anyone that meets Zach, sees him as a role model for others.
