Hello, we are the family of Zacharia Albuturky and we appreciate you taking the time to read our story. Our family has been blindsided by a tragic accident leaving our youngest brother paralyzed from the neck down. His c4 spinal injury is also directly affecting his diaphragm, leaving him unable to breathe independently without a tracheostomy that is attached to a ventilator.
At only 18 years old those who know Zach know him as an active, motivated, and loving young man. He loved playing football in high school and other activities that would keep him moving and socializing. Almost a year ago he started his job at Amazon. He is much loved and missed by his whole team. A typical day for him is to get off work and then come home and spend time with his mother and siblings. Always the first one to step up and help with anything his mother needs help with. He takes pride in always being dependable for those closest to him. It is natural for Zacharia to lend a helping hand to those who need it. From loved ones to strangers he has never met before.
With this accident happening at such a young age we feel the importance of finding him the best medical care in hopes of improving his mobility and overall quality of life. After recovering in the hospital he will spend some time in rehab where they will help him with physical therapy and teach him how to breathe and communicate with his new tracheostomy. After rehab, we will have had to adjust his home with all of the necessary equipment needed for his care and comfort. When it is safe for him to travel, we hope to have him seen by the best doctors in stem cell therapy. New research and trials have proven to be promising and what could be the best hope we have in seeing him mobile again.
Any amount you’re willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated, and if you aren’t able to contribute at this time, a prayer and a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.
Thank you.
