Support Zanadu Studios Staff After Devastating Fire

On April 8, 2025 a tragic fire engulfed Zanadu Studios. Both Zanadu and Upholsery Northwest, the business next door, are a total loss. Our beloved dog Tigger perished in the fire.
Zanadu Studios wasn’t just a venue—it was a creative and cultural hub for South End nightlife. From Vibe Bingo and Boots on the Ground to incredible live performances featuring Suga Free, Ne-Yo, Luciano, Adrian Marcel, and Joseline’s Cabaret. Zanadu supported not only artists and promoters—but also local workers, vendors, caterers, and small businesses.
Their mission was to bring the community together through music, entertainment, art, and food. Zanadu aimed to provide a safe and inclusive space for the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, and catered to individuals of all ages, shapes, and sizes, providing a venue where people could truly be themselves and have fun.
Sadly, due to the fire, we are now forced to lay off:
- 2 Full-Time Managers
- 8 Bar Staff (Bartenders, Barbacks and Bussers)
- 2 Facility Staff
- Our Dedicated Administrative Staff
Local promoters are scrambling to find alternate venues, and our future as a space for the community has come to an unexpected halt.
Why We Need Your Help
While we wait for insurance to process, many of our employees and contracted workers are not eligible for unemployment benefits. This GoFundMe is being launched to help bridge that gap and cover critical business expenses in the interim. Our neighbors Upholstery Northwest have lost equipment and inventory and will have to find a new space for their business. We would like to support them in these efforts as well.

- Cover urgent business costs during the insurance claim process
- Help our team and community members stay afloat during this unexpected crisis
- Assist Upholstery Northwest in recovering their equipment, inventory, and relocating.
