Support Zedland's Journey to Authenticity

Update as of April 2025: I am very lucky to have access to insurance through my employer now that covers gender affirming care; however this does not mean this surgery will go without expenses. I am looking at approximately 10k in expenses for the surgery itself, so please help me reach that goal! My surgery is scheduled for May 28th, 2025!

Hello lovely friends!! Thank you for reading this crowdfunding campaign. My name is Zedland and I am a cat dad, loverboy, storyteller, and trans man. The journey to have life-saving and gender-affirming top surgery has not been an easy one. From non-supporting family to insurance that will not cover gender-affirming surgery, I've been feeling lost.

On January 4th, 2024, I had a top surgery consultation with Dr. Costas out of Concord Plastic Surgery. He is the surgeon I have chosen as there are really only a solid handful of surgeons in the Boston area who do not have a BMI limit and who also have the expertise and confidence in working with fat bodies that I feel (and have seen) that Dr. Costas has.

On May 17th, with my sights set on a surgery date in December of 2024, I received a phone call stating that my insurance would not cover any gender-affirming surgery. The quote for top surgery was $19,000. Currently, I do not have an option for health coverage that covers top surgery.

This news was devastating. I have been living my life as a proud trans man and the necessary next step to be authentically myself is top surgery.

I hope you will consider helping me access this care!

Feeling seen is more than just others recognizing me and my humanity, but rather also the feeling of being at home within my skin. I know top surgery is a very integral step in order to truly feel home.
