Support Zimbabwean Families!

Hello, my name is Seneca Schachter and I am the founder of LionSun International.

First, let me thank you for visiting this page! I personally really appreciate any opportunity to raise awareness about important humanitarian needs, and to promote organizations that provide assistance to people who are suffering throughout the world.

My hope today is that you will read what I have to say, and at the very least, become informed about major crises that currently exist, and about some of the people who are attempting to provide material, and logistical assistance to areas impacted by catastrophic events, and various human rights issues. But of course, if you do feel inspired to make a donation to help support this cause, that would be the ultimate, and most ideal result of all of my efforts, the efforts of everyone here at LionSun International, and of all of our partners & affiliates.

To give you some insight into my own story, a little less than a year ago, I was inspired to create a GoFundMe campaign to benefit an organization known as, SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe. This organization advocates for the concerns, rights, and the needs of Zimbabwe’s most marginalized children. I first learned about the work that they do through some family that I have living in Africa. Shortly after discovering their organization, I decided to reach out and propose forming a partnership. Through the fundraising campaign that was subsequently created, I was able to raise a substantial contribution, and provide support to several of the organization's programs.

After completing my first fundraising campaign, I found myself experiencing a deep, and unique sense of accomplishment, joy, and peace. These feelings ultimately inspired me to seek out and hire a small team of creative, like-minded individuals, who helped me to form my very first not-for-profit business, LionSun International.

Today, we are launching our first fundraising campaign as a business. For this campaign, we are partnering with Arcadia CHILD Trust. Located in Harare, Zimbabwe, this organization is committed to nurturing the socially, and economically disadvantaged, and providing programs that resonate with the needs of their diverse neighborhoods. They have brought many needs to our attention, and so for this fundraising campaign, we have multiple objectives.

1) Purchase a hybrid solar-powered generator for a family that we have already located in Harare that is in need of this type of renewable resource technology.

2) Provide funding to Arcadia CHILD Trust for multiple programs that we have identified as needing immediate additional resources.

3) Create a long-term partnership with Arcadia CHILD Trust, and establish ongoing support between Zimbabwe, and our bases of operations in both San Francisco, California, and our satellite office in Gainesville, Florida.

In closing, all over the world, our fellow humans face abject poverty. Many of us want to help but don’t really know how. You can do one simple thing right now that will make a difference for a long time. Be part of a long-term solution for a family in Zimbabwe that is relying on an overtaxed power grid, in a city with not enough jobs to sustain the population. Reliable electricity for food preservation, lights to work, read, and study by, and internet access are luxuries that many of us take for granted. There are so many people in Zimbabwe dealing with sporadic, long lasting power outages that occur far too often. An entire family can benefit so much from a solar powered generator. By extension, that family can bring about ongoing improvements by helping neighboring youths with creative projects and entrepreneurial endeavors.
