Support Zion & Riel to Play for Team Canada

Hey everyone!

We are Zion and Riel Leaf, siblings with a shared passion for dodgeball and a chance to represent Canada on the world stage in Graz, Austria!

The World Championships will be held August 11-17, 2024.

We're fundraising to help cover some of our expenses. Traveling for training camps and tournaments means airfare, transportation and accommodations, as well as player fees and uniform expenses on top of that.

For training camps and tournaments we have invested,

$3600 Flights

$850 Accommodations

$400 Additional Travel Costs

Flights to Graz, Austria are $1300 each return

Accommodations in Graz are $1200 for the week

What This Dream Means to Us:

For us, this is an opportunity to pursue our passion at the highest level! We have the opportunity to battle together as siblings on the Co-Ed Team Canada squad and represent for our country in this evolving sport that we love! HOW COOL IS THAT!?

Our Progress So Far:

In the summer of 2023, we participated in Dodgeball Canada's national try outs that were held in PEI, Winnipeg and Vancouver. Following our tryout at the Vancouver combine, we received the incredible news that we were both selected in the first round. Over the last 6 months we've been training, and now the official roster for Team Canada has been selected...and we made it!

With over 1500 athletes, 120 teams from over 30 countries, this is a historic moment for the sport. Canada is defending their gold medal win in the last world championships.

Personal Experiences and Anecdotes:

We have both played in Provincials and Nationals for several years. Riel's talent even took her to Auckland, to play for the New Zealand Women's Team in the Asia Pacific Invitational tournament in 2019!

Expenses and Funding Allocation:

The primary expenses we're looking to cover are airfare, hotels, and other travel expenses. Until now, we've shouldered these costs ourselves, often needing to take time off work to compete and train across Canada.

Challenges and Commitment:

Our commitment to being among the world's top players involves time and travel expenses. We are determined to overcome these challenges by fundraising, seeking corporate sponsors, and hosting events to support our journey and share the sport we love!
