Support Koko: Victim of A Road Rage Shooting
Donation protected
On a Monday morning in July, our family member Koko was gunned down during a road rage incident. Officers were able to obtain surveillance footages of the vehicle driving recklessly and tailgating Koko. At a red light, the vehicle pulled up next to his car and shot him seven times through the windows. Five of the seven bullets connected, causing Koko to sustain multiple injuries to his jaw, neck, shoulder and spinal cord. This tragic incident was simply being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Koko has lost motor functions in both arms and legs. At this time Koko is considered quadriplegic. He is unable to breathe, eat, drink or speak on his own. Due to his jawbone being completely fractured, his mouth had to be wired shut. A tracheotomy is currently placed in his neck and a PEG tube in his abdomen, which allows any feeding to take place. He is currently being treated for pneumonia and a bacterial infection. This is his current condition 3 weeks into recovery.
Koko is still so smart. He was able to blink Judy's phone number to the hospital. He had it memorized and blinked each digit at a time, and that's how the doctor reached out to us about his incident.
Before this incident, you can catch Koko at Vien Huong Restaurant or running circles around Lake Merritt. He loves his job at UC Berkeley, and takes great care of his his mother. Our genius was honored a full scholarship to UC Davis for his studies. His brain is smart and his heart is gold. He is the most giving and considerate person in the world. He never goes anywhere empty handed- always with thoughtful gift or polite gesture.
Please help us share this message, especially to those who may know Koko.
Our family wants to THANK YOU for everyone's support, for Koco’s family. Your love, kindness and positive thoughts is what Koko needs during this time.
A loving reminder our friends and family- please be safe. Drive carefully and be mindful of your surroundings. Because in an instance, you can lose everything- simply by switching lanes on the road. There are violent people who will do dangerous things without thinking twice. Practice kindness and remember to tell your loved ones, you love them, daily. Thank you so much.
