Contract NOW!: Support NYC union game store workers
Donation protected
Since last fall, 100+ workers from Hex&Co, the Brooklyn Strategist, and the Uncommons have been fighting for a fair union contract. Under the banner of Tabletop Workers United, they’ve already had some breakthroughs and won important workplace protections. Now, union members are gearing up to take action in preparation for the toughest part of their fight: winning a livable wage. Ownership has been retaliating against workers for exercising their rights, as well as stooping to disrespectful tactics such as dragging an irrelevant culture war into negotiations, which has slowed progress.
TWU members are not going to back down until they get a contract. And we, as a community, are going to come together and back them up!
A group of customers and community members pledged to support the union in their quest for a fair contract, forming the Tabletop Solidarity Committee. Our goal is to help ensure these important centers of our community will be here in years to come, and we’re organizing this fundraiser to support workers taking action to make that future possible. All funds raised will go to recuperate workers for lost wages and to support ongoing union actions. We’re hoping to raise ~$5,000 so that each worker can feel confident that we have their back.
The workers at our local game stores play such a vital role in each of our lives. Without them, there’s no Friday night Magic, D&D night, or places to go where we can enjoy our favorite hobbies. Nobody should have to live in poverty to support our ability to have great game nights! If you’ve ever had a question about what book to buy, needed a place to get buddies together to play games, or just needed to chat with someone who has similar interests, then you’ve been supported by one of these workers. They’ve done so much for us, and all they need is for us to back them up in their fight for a fair contract.
