Dane's Surgery and Recovery Support

In September of 2022 I went in for a routine check-up and cleaning. During the routine x-rays and updating my Pan Scan, it was noted there was an anomaly in my jaw. A week later I found myself in the office consulting with an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. It became clear that a biopsy was needed and week later I was in again for minor surgery.

I was booked for a biopsy follow up on November 10, 2022. That appointment had revealed that I have become an unlucky host to a odontogenic myxoma. An extremely rare (but fortunately) benign jaw tumor.

Due to the nature and size of this tumor, I am booked for surgery January 9, 2023 to remove a total of 7 teeth (from my bottom left canine to the right) to begin the process of removing the tumor. After the teeth have been extracted, I will recover for 8 weeks to allow the gums to heal, and then I will go to the hospital for the actual removal of the tumor, which will involve trying to scoop it all out, and recover for the following months until I am eligible for implants.

Although plans are in place and most of the procedures are covered, along with some programs that will aid long term and cover most if not all the costs for dental implants, there are some costs that are not. Unfortunately teeth extractions are not covered and although we have health insurance, it will not cover the whole cost. There is the cost of temporary dentures, prescriptions, and other medical costs. There is also the cost of being unable to work for extended periods while I recover.

Most of you will know me quite well, and know it is not easy for me to ask for monetary aid, however this is an area I wish to not stress about while I stress with this long road of recovery. We have set this goal of $4000 to help ease the burden for any unexpected costs and time away from work, but to go beyond that would also be incredible. If you can find it within you to help us monetarily in this time of need it would be immensely appreciated!
