Support Dora’s ICU & Burial Accrued Expenses
Hello,
I’m Jessica Burga. I live in Los Angeles with my 12yr old daughter. Some of you know that I’m Peruvian and the rest of my family lives in Lima-Peru.
Dora, 66, my mom; mother of 3 and grandmother of 5 is the strongest woman I’ve met. Always warm and caring with anyone she’d meet. Joyful about life, a strong believer of her faith and forever a caring and worrying mother to us. She’s visited me in Los Angeles a few times and she felt at home. She loves nature, so what better place than California. Our family plans were for her to live with us by the end of the year.
Unfortunately and with a heavy heart, I’m here informing that my mom got infected with COVID in early May. She was only 3 weeks away from getting vaccinated in Lima. Today, she fights for her life in an ICU bed.
Regrettably, here in Lima, there’s a shortage of ICU beds. So it took us several days finding one. It was a real miracle that we found one. Unfortunately, the long wait she had, allowed the virus to advance, causing more damage. Currently she has one harden lung, making her recovery very slow and unpredictable. We are all praying that she turns around but her condition is considered very critical by the doctors now.
This campaign is to raise funds for her recovery expenses. We are uncertain at the moment of the total cost to us for the ICU unit that she’s in now. But I’ll have a better notion in the next few days. After the ICU, when she’s back home, she’ll need professional medical support at home among other support on daily routines for which, generally she would take care of herself.
It is my dream, to have her back in Los Angeles when she’s healthy again. Please help us provide for her needs now and the ones coming. Any support to build this fund will mean a great deal to this cause. Below, you’ll find the cel number I’m currently using in Lima, I use WhatsApp,
and I’ll keep it until we have to return to home in Los Angeles.
We appreciate the time you’ve giving us here. Please pray for her health.
Sincerely,
Jessica Burga Velasquez
