Support #EndSars Relief

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

Thank you for clicking the link and visiting the page. This fundraiser is  set up to support the #EndSars #EndBadGovernance movement in Nigeria. The protest has come to an end, but after the Lekki Massacre on Tuesday October 20th a lot of destruction and despair took over the nation. There are a number of victims from the ongoing brutality resulting in injuries or death, illegal arrests, and looting of businesses.

Majority of those who were directly affected have little to none to support them in medical recovery, legal support, business recovery, etc. This is where we can come in and support those in need.

Initially, when this GoFundMe was started donations were meant to go to Feminist Coalition (www.feministcoalition2020.com) ,  a grassroots organization that was supporting victims and channeling finances to  sustain the protest. As of Thursday October 22, 2020 - Feminist Coalition stated that they were no longer accepting donations (please see their website and social media platforms) and all donations should go directly to the organizations that they were channeling the funds to. I posted that update on this Go Fund Me page, Thursday 10/22/2020, but I noticed that a lot of people were still wanting to support the #EndSars movement  and the fight against police brutality. Since a large number of donations were already received on this Go Fund Me prior to Feminist Coalition's  announcement and continued to to come in after it was mentioned that they will no longer be accepting donations -- I will go ahead and follow their orders and be responsible of sending the funds to the Legal Aid Network and EndSarsRelief as per Feminist Co's request. Additionally, funds will be used to cover medical fees of injured victims, mental health organizations that are offering therapy for the trauma experienced, and small businesses that have been destroyed. I believe in 100% transparency, so I will update this page as donations are dispersed - two donations have  been dispersed thus far from the 1st GoFundMe withdrawal  - #EndSarsLegal a.k.a. Legal Aid Network and to a small business that was destroyed MauCarePharamacy *please see updates below*. As donations are sent, I will provide updates on this GoFundMe page and will also share them on Instagram: @endsarsrelief.

This is a way to help rebuild the nation and support people during these tough times while the fight to #EndSars continues. Any donation is appreciated regardless of the amount! Please share this link with your family and friends.

Despite the distance we can use our voices and donations to do our part for Nigeria.

All donations received will go to orgs, businesses, and individuals affected by civil unrest as a result of the Lekki Massacre and #EndSars movement

PLEASE SHARE THIS GOFUNDME WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS - ANY AMOUNT COUNTS.

#EndSARS is a social movement in Nigeria that started on Twitter calling for banning of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a unit of the Nigerian Police Force It is a call to end police oppression and brutality in Nigeria. The protests started as a social media campaign using the hashtag #ENDSARS to demand for Nigeria's government to scrap and end the deployment of Nigeria Police Force Special Anti-Robbery Squad, popularly known as SARS. Within a weekend (9-11 October 2020), the #ENDSARS hashtag had up to 28 million tweets.  Nigerians have shared both stories and video evidence of how members of SARS engaged in kidnapping, murder, theft, rape, torture, unlawful arrests, high-handedness, humiliation, unlawful detention, extrajudicial killings, and extortion.

SARS officers profile youths largely based on appearance; mount illegal road blocks, stop and search, arrest without warrant, rape women, extort young Nigerians for driving exotic vehicles and using iPhones. While some claimed victory as the Nigerian Police Force dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on Sunday, 11 October 2020  others noted similar promises had been made in recent years and the government planned to reassign SARS officers rather than eliminate them entirely.
