Support for Christian LaBeau

Hello, This is a fundraiser organized by the Josey Records KC staff and The Bad Ideas.

On May 1st, 2023 the Kansas City community unexpectedly lost our beloved Britt Adair. The outpouring of love for Britt as this news has spread across the city has been tremendous. She was loved by so many people and that has become even more apparent than it already was before her passing, as we all try to collectively accept this devastating news. She leaves behind many friends, band mates, family and her loving husband Christian Labeau. Most people know Chris and Britt as the backbone and driving force behind Josey Records KC. They've collectively booked shows for you, sold you records and helped create one of the best record stores Kansas City has to offer.

For those close to Britt and Chris, you may remember the awful leg injury endured by Chris in 2020. They have been silently struggling financially with medical bills ever since, trying to figure out how to pay for Chris' broken leg and physical therapy without health insurance. The cost of a broken leg and physical therapy in this country without health insurance is outrageous. Something close to around 25k. Throw in the cost of your rent and living expenses and it's very easy to get overwhelmed by the unbelievable debt. They were having a very hard time paying this off collectively with their combined income.

Now here we are, in a world without Britt Adair and we are worried about Christian. As we all struggle collectively over the loss of her, we cannot even begin to imagine or understand what this is like for him. What we do know is if there's anything in this world Britt would want us to do, it's to make sure Christian is okay.

Our goal is to alleviate Chris' medical debt and offer help with expenses as he tries to figure out what his next steps are in a world without Britt. So far he has been unable to return to the home they shared because it is currently too much to bear. He's been staying at a hotel for the time being because it is much easier for him to handle. We don't know what the future holds for Chris but we want him to know that we love him and want to help in any way that we can. We believe alleviating this crushing debt and helping him get into a good place financially is a good start for the long road ahead.

We hope the Kansas City community will help us to help Britts other half Christian Labeau, he needs all the help, love and support he can get.

Funds will go directly to Christian and will be used for the following:

-Medical Debt

-Any hotel expenses for the time being

-Possible moving funds

-General help while Chris is away from work
