Running the marathon to improve mental health
Donation protected
Having had my own experiences of mental health issues as a young person, it is a subject that is close to my heart. After being unable to access mental health services confidentially, I started a campaign to change the way CAMHS is accessed. As this campaign progressed, I decided that I should start a charity, Support For Us, to provide information, resources and training around young peoples mental health as well as looking to change the way CAMHS is accessed.
I was motivated to enter the Brighton Marathon as it has always been an achievement I've looked up to when I hear of others running a marathon.
Running has always been a challenge for me and sadly training has been difficult for me this year. Despite this, I was determined to finish the marathon and I did. Whilst a marathon is usually 26.2 miles, I ended up completing the Brighton Marathon with 30.96 miles on my Strava, with it taking 14 hours 29.
I am now preparing for the 21K Great North Run in September, with the 10K Great North Run being a warm up in July.
Any support, no matter how small, is hugely appreciated.
All the funds from this fundraiser (excluding GoFundMe fees) will be put in a designated bank account set up for the charity.
