Supporting a wonderful community in South Africa
Donation protected
I am heading back to South Africa this summer by myself to reunite with my host family and school - Siyawela Primary School where I visited in 2022.
The money raised two years ago made a massive difference to the children’s lives and supported their well-being and education by providing rugs for cold classrooms, stationery and toys to resource their playground and school. A lot of my personal money was spent in addition as I saw the impact that it had on the school community but unfortunately I can’t support them to the extent I would like to, without some help.
This year, I would like to ask for donations to continue to support Siyawela and also to help support my host family. My host brother is a very talented chef and dreams of having his own van to make his business mobile and accessible. Some of the money raised would help support him in paying for his dream. Please see his page Chef Vuyo Gumbi
Many of the children at Siyawela, like others in the province, travel miles to get to school, often on foot, or crammed into one car with approx 20 other children. They come to school with the hope of a better future, but without the proper and basic resources such as heating during the winter and lights in their classrooms to help them thrive it is difficult, yet they make the most of what they have.
Still, the people in this community are the most positive and optimistic people I have ever met and really inspire me to better myself.
Thank you for taking the time to read and if you can spare just a pound it would make a difference, and bring some extra joy to some wonderful people.
Money raised will provide:
- a contribution to my host brother to help get him a vehicle for his buisness.
- pencils, books, games for the children of Siyawela
- a donation to the installation of facilities / equipment that they require e.g heating/lighting
- money to help fund better transportation e.g bikes for children to ride to school
The difference that can be made is all as a result of the amount of money raised. Please help me make a difference to the people who deserve it.
