Supporting Addison Owen A Dedicated Infantryman

We are hosting a fundraiser for SSG Addison Owen, an honorable infantryman who has dedicated 12 years of his life to serving our country. His illustrious career spans various roles, including that of a Sniper Team Leader and Drill Sergeant, during which he has earned accolades such as the Expert Infantry Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Purple Heart, for his unwavering dedication and selfless sacrifice. His exceptional qualities have even been acknowledged by the Infantry Magazine, where he was featured for his outstanding contribution to the infantry.

Regrettably, SSG Owen has been grappling with legal issues for the past four years, which have had a severe impact on his financial stability. On February 22nd, 2019, he was involved in a fatal car accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian. Despite the Columbus Police Department's decision not to pursue criminal charges, the U.S. Army charged SSG Owen under the Universal Code of Military Justice, which carried a maximum sentence of 20 years of military imprisonment. Consequently, he has been under investigation for over three and a half years, causing him to be flagged, thus restricting his promotions, awards, and training opportunities.

In the end Addison was charged with 2 counts of reckless driving and sentenced to 277 days of confinement for an accident where a man that was intoxicated ran across a dark lit 4 lane roadway and was struck by his vehicle. The man’s friends left him to die and Addison stood by to render aid. Columbus PD had no case or charges taken to prosecution. 

Despite his predicament, SSG Owen has been shouldering his financial obligations alone, leading to the loss of his home and the unfortunate decision to rehome his beloved pet.

We recognize that this is a difficult time for him, and as a community, we are eager to help ease his burden.
