Supporting Amber Through Cancer
Donation protected
This beautiful soul right here is my sister, Amber. She has recently been diagnosed with Cancer and is about to embark on a long journey of treatments and multiple surgeries.
A couple of years ago she started to feel something was wrong inside her body. Her instincts and awareness of herself alerted her that something was wrong. After multiple trips to several different doctors, she was continuously pushed away; “You’re too young", “You’re fine", “It’s just stress". Not one doctor provided a follow up for her concerns and no scans were ever scheduled to simply make sure. They pushed her away for over 2 years until finally, after being overly persistent and advocating for herself, a "walk in" doctor finally took her seriously. She was then given the appropriate scanning and tests necessary to confirm her fearful suspicions and that her downplayed nightmare was in fact, severely, and unfortunately, true.
A tumour.
An aggressive tumour.
Which had it been caught years earlier wouldn’t have spread at the capacity it did. To her liver and, now, through her lymph nodes. This experience is the most disheartening as had she been taken care of when she initially thought something was wrong, she would have been able to prepare financially, emotionally and mentally.
But now, we have to rush.
She must start treatment immediately.
This now leaves zero time to prepare.
Zero time to prepare for the now and for the future.
She’s longed to be a mother since she was a child, and this sudden devastating news has her rushed into surgeries and treatments. She is now unable to go through the process of freezing her eggs to have babies of her own, which is absolutely devastating to find out for any woman. She’s spent her life caring so deeply for other children and she would have been the absolute best mother. She has spent the last 10 years caring for littles ones at the forest circle daycare and truly has the purest heart of gold.
She is a loved and adored Aunty to our boys and our nieces.
A daughter.
A sister.
A niece.
An incredible person.
Our family has felt so much heart break over the past coulple months processing this news, but we are focused on and praying for the most positive outcome possible. Amber is one of the most kind, thoughtful and genuine people you will ever meet. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting her, you would know exactly what we mean.
She means absolutely everything to us. She is someone who goes above and beyond to support you in a time of need, and all we want and can hope and pray for, is to provide the help and support in return to her.
This journey is never easy on the physical body, emotional well being and the financial hardship.
I know this is already a difficult time in the world for the majority of us, but even donating $5, or simply sharing to create awareness for this incredibly important cause to my family and I, would mean the world to us.
You may think a share doesn’t have an impact, but it absolutely does. If you cannot donate, I completely understand without hesitation. I know the state the world is in currently. But if you could kindly find it in your heart to share and perhaps someone seeing it will be able to donate, or share or like.
It truly all helps.
Sharing. Liking. Donating.
We are urging the creation of this awareness, as it would mean so much to all of us.
The awareness of self advocating is understated far too often as we take one professionals opinion, or two or three, as the truth; They are doctors after all - the professionals - and we should trust their advice. But they are only human too, and humans can make mistakes. So please, if you cannot donate, please do share this to create the awareness that if you feel something is wrong do not stop until you get answers as it may lead to being too late.
Though we are left with little time to deal with the logistics of this, we are thankful she was persistent and was able to finally get some answers and now we are doing what we can in any capacity with the time we have to raise financial support, raise awareness for her, and to raise awareness for this.
Be persistent.
Advocate for yourself.
Trust your instincts.
Thank you so very kindly in advance for taking the time to read this, for your donations, sharing, likes, love, thoughts and prayers. We need and accept it all with such an open heart. Thank you.
