My name is Bobure Wabol and this Gofundme page is for my sweet little 2 year old niece Anikka Reiher.
Anikka is our brave little warrior born in June of 2016 while her family resided in the islands of Tonga. She was born a healthy and happy baby to proud parents Chris and Marie. However at 7 weeks old, things took a turn when she started showing severe symptoms of Bacterial Meningitis and experienced seizures, vomiting and abnormally high fevers. They took her to the hospital and she was put on antibiotics for a week. Three weeks later her symptoms returned and she was rushed to the hospital again. Within a couple of days her condition debilitated, she had a hard time breathing and her little heart gave up. The Doctors thankfully were able to revive her but her life has never been the same since then. At only 10 weeks old, Anikka had sudden paralysis and was immobile from the neck downwards.
Her family moved to Hawaii for better medical care. There with proper and advanced medical treatments Anikka was able to gain mobility progressively. Although even through little progression, the harsh reality of surviving Bacterial Meningitis came with brain and nerve problems. Thus resulting in learning disabilities, hearing and visual loss, and other mild residual problems. Anikka still fought life like a warrior! Her personality shone through and is a spunky little toddler who loves bathtime, enjoys the outdoors, her Daddy’s jokes, her keychain toy, her older brother and sisters but most of all her Mother’s soothing cuddles.
Anikka is now 2 years old, she still is unable to communicate, walk, sit and do everything a normal toddler can do. Yet has maintained to smile, inspire and influence so many others around her with her battles. Life’s trials continue to occur for herself and her family. i
The Reihers currently reside in Arizona. Two weeks ago, Anikka started having similar previous symptoms that has proceeded to numerous ER visits. Last week during her visits she was moved to the PICU for three days. She has improved since then and has left the ER but has since continued to be monitored in and out of the Banners hospital. Due to poor insurance coverage she is not fully covered. Her journey still continues and will no doubt be a long, painful, and expensive one. There will be a lot of uncovered medical expenses that will need to be paid out of pocket. Please help us ease the financial burden for the Reiher family.
