Alexandra Paul (Islam) tragically lost her life in a car accident on the afternoon of August 22nd, 2023—a devastating event that has left her baby boy, Charlie, to endure an unimaginable loss: that of his beloved mother, Alex.
Amidst this heart-wrenching situation, Mitch Islam finds himself confronted with the daunting reality of raising Charlie as a widowed father.
As the Paul and Islam families navigate their way through grief and begin the healing process, numerous friends have expressed a desire to provide more than condolences alone. To address this, we've launched this GoFundMe campaign—a chance to support Charlie and Mitch during this challenging period.
While the immediate responsibilities of arranging the funeral and commemorative services are being attended to by the Paul and Islam family, we see this fund as a means to contribute to Charlie's future and offer Mitch the essential support to weather this storm. Your generous contributions will ease the financial burden on Mitch, giving him the necessary space to process his grief without the added pressure of an early return to work.
The funds raised will go directly into Mitch's hands (currently set up through his sister, Rachel, as the temporary benefactor on Mitch's behalf while he continues processing things), empowering him to make decisions that best serve Charlie's well-being. Whether it involves securing resources for Charlie's future education, ensuring his day-to-day needs are met, or aiding Mitch in navigating the uncharted waters of single parenthood, your donations will have a profound and lasting impact.
Each dollar you contribute represents a step toward a brighter future for Charlie—a future in which he can flourish, grow, and uphold his mother's spirit.
As a Canadian success story is tragically cut short, Alex will be remembered as a passionate, determined young lady who could illuminate any room she entered. She was not only kind, educated, witty, and resolute, but Alex was also a staple in the international Figure Skating community representing Canada at the Olympics. But above all, Alex will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, and mother to Charlie.
Your support serves as a testament to the strength of friendship, the strength of family, and the strength and international connection that the figure skating community holds surrounding Alex, Mitch, and Charlie.
We extend our gratitude for your involvement in Charlie's journey, ensuring that his path ahead is filled with love, opportunities, and support.
