Help support the Marker family and baby Thatcher!
Holly and Alex Marker are college sweethearts who have been married for four years. They graduated college, both started their first teaching jobs, and bought their first home--then they decided it was time to add Baby Marker to the mix!
After months of trying, they happily announced to the world that they were expecting. On Thanksgiving, they discovered that Baby Marker would be a boy! However, at Holly's normal anatomy scan, some concerns were noticed and Holly was referred to Denver.
Her appointment was scheduled for December 21, 2020. At her ultrasound, Holly was informed that she would be admitted to Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital because she was at extremely high risk for early labor, due to incompetent cervix.
Holly was admitted and expected to be on bedrest for weeks, as she was only 26 weeks, 3 days. However, Baby Marker had other plans.
Just hours after being admitted, Holly's water broke and she gave birth to Thatcher Alex Marker, on December 21, 2020, at 5:19 PM. He weighed in at 2 pounds, 5 ounces and is doing very well for his gestational age.
Unfortunately, 30 minutes after she delivered her sweet baby boy, doctors informed her that she tested Covid positive. This means that she cannot visit the baby for at least 7 days, and Alex cannot visit for at least 5. Additionally, they will not be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House after she is discharged (until she is no longer contagious).
We can see God's hand in Holly's delivery. She was exactly where she needed to be when Thatcher decided to make his arrival.
The last thing we want the Marker family to worry about are living expenses and health costs. Please consider donating what you can to help this sweet new family as they spend the next few months navigating the NICU journey in this crazy Covid world.
