Supporting basic educational needs for Ethiopian kids
Donation protected
Dear all,
I am Naomi Tesfaye, a 13 year old girl who is passionate about helping Ethiopian children (especially girls) who have a barrier between them and a decent education. Imagine, a girl my age, not able to go to school and having to marry someone at such a young age instead. Imagine, a girl my age, not able to go to school due to economic hardships. Imagine, a girl my age, being hindered from an education due to a lack of sanitary pads. Education is something that is easily accessible in this country; I never knew how valuable it was until I saw how desperately children wanted one in other countries. For example, Dinkenesh, 10 years old (2017) joined a large number of girls deprived from an education. She said, ‘I was so sad when I could not go to school. I needed to work and help my family.’ With help from donations, Dinkenesh managed to gain a scholarship and progress her education with the help of Roots Ethiopia. Now she says, ‘ Now I am so happy I can go to school, and still I help my mother make injera when I can”. (Injera is a fermented flat-bread that is eaten with most Ethiopian dishes). With your donations, a child like Dinkenesh can receive an education. You can give them hope for a better future. However, the thing we need to understand is that education
should be universal, not controversial. Every child deserves that privilege; it shouldn’t even be a conversation. Stories like Dinkenesh’s is what motivated me to have this idea in the first place. After doing my research, I am even more grateful for my education. And one last thing,Remember this: education should be universal, not controversial.
