Supporting Ben Goodhue and his family
Donation protected
Four years ago, we communicated that Ben had been diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer called glioblastoma and thankfully, Ben won the first round of his battle and was able to witness the birth of his first child and to enjoy all that comes along with becoming a new parent. Life went on and the Goodhues felt extremely blessed they had come out the other side. They then welcomed another daughter, Charlotte, in the winter of 2019. Life was joyous and both Ben and Sarah cherished being parents to their two little girls.
During a routine scan it was discovered that the cancer returned and Ben was up against another surgery followed by radiation and chemo. Both Ben and Sarah dug their heels in, leaned on those around them and put their faith in God. Along the way Ben suffered two seizures with the second leaving some residual damage. Ben got down to business working tirelessly to regain his strength and mobility back. As a few months passed it was noticeable that he wasn’t getting better but rather regressing. Doctors’ visits revealed that the regression was due in part of the tumor and this was the path of the disease and furthermore, there was nothing more doctors could do. Our hearts break for Ben, his wife Sarah, their daughters Maggie (3) and Charlotte (1) as well as all of their extended family, friends, students, colleagues and community Ben and Sarah have influenced over the years.
Ben Goodhue is a health and wellness teacher at Beverly High School (Beverly, Massachusetts). He also coaches football in his hometown of Gloucester. Ben has been a life -long lover of football and finds such fulfillment in making an impact on his young players and students. Ben has also devoted a lot of his time to running and exercise. He has always felt it imperative to model what he teaches in the classroom. Not being able to fulfill these passions has been a challenge for Ben amidst his ongoing battle.
As you can imagine, this is a very trying and emotional time for the Goodhues. Ben and his family need our help and support once again. Please take the time to support Ben and his family - both with a donation and a prayer.
Thank you for your consideration and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
