Supporting Cambodia with Camps International
Donation protected
Let me introduce myself, my name is Josh Hanna, I'm 13 years old, and a year 9 student at The John Warner School in Hoddesdon. My school has partnered with the organisation Camps International whose goal is to support developing countries in locations across East Africa, South East Asia and Latin America.
In Summer 2026 they have chosen to travel to Cambodia for 4 weeks to provide aid and support to a poorer part of the country and I would like to go with them to offer my support. They aim to do this through a number of different initiatives:
- Building school kitchens, as this often provides the only meal a child will eat in a whole day
- Building kindergartens to improve the early years of education. This helps a child by reducing the chance of them falling behind, as many will leave school to help their parents work on their farmland, so this will be the only formal education they will ever receive
- Reforestation to replenish the forests ravaged by commercial deforestation
- Community toilet block installations, as many homes don't have their own toilet facilities so we will be providing villages with clean modern toilets that will improve both hygiene and healthcare issues
- Building bridges, enabling children far easier and safer river crossings to access schools
- Beach cleanups, as an unimaginable amount of plastic and waste ends up on the island shores, so we will collect the rubbish and pass it on to women’s groups who turn it into beautiful jewellery they can then sell to provide a much needed income to support their families
As good as the above all sounds, I require your help to make this opportunity a reality for me, as it will cost me around £5000 to fund the trip and I really need some help. This is where I hope you can come in! Any donation you can make will really help me on my journey, and allow me to take part in what I'm sure will be a life changing experience where I will also be able to support a less privileged community.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and thank you for your kind support and generosity.
