Supporting Cheetara's Grieving Heart

Dear friends and compassionate souls, I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share the devastating loss that my dear friend Cheetara has experienced. On that fateful day, July 27th, 2023, she tragically lost her oldest son, Markel, to a drowning incident at Coney Island beach.

It's important to shed light on Cheetara's current situation. For the past year, she and her two boys, Aaron and Markel, have been living in a shelter in the Bronx, New York. On that very day, they were forced to leave the shelter from 6 am to 1 pm due to a state inspection. Seeking solace, they decided to visit the beach to cool down, but the day took a heartbreaking turn.

Cheetara's screams for help were met with the heroic efforts of bystanders but they were unable to save Markel, who was just 15 years old. Markel was a wonderful son to Cheetara and a beloved older brother to Aaron.

Aaron was able to get to safety unharmed.

In this time of immense grief, I appeal to your kind hearts to consider donating to this family. Your support will help them cope with the loss of Markel and the emotional trauma they are enduring. Cheetara has already taken steps to arrange grief counseling for herself and Aaron, but the weight of this tragedy has affected not only their family but the entire community.
