Supporting children with remote learning
Donation protected
Hi all,
Are you able to help GoCardless' BEAM group support underprivileged children in Islington needing IT equipment?
With remote learning likely to carry on until at least February half term, the education divide is worsening again. Only two weeks ago, just 10% of teachers in England reported that all their students have adequate access to a device for remote learning (source ).
According to the National Federation for Educational Research, the average learning lost by all pupils in the first lockdown was three months, but the majority of pupils at schools in the most deprived areas lost four months or more. The impact will last for years.
This is a cause close to our hearts
Although children without the right equipment are now allowed to go back into schools, the Good Law Project has raised awareness that this further increases Covid-19 exposure for poorer and BAME families, due to unsafe numbers of attendees putting teachers, students, and their families at higher risk.
How can you help?
We would love to raise as much as we can for children in need in Islington schools, as this is an area both very familiar to us, and unfortunately an area with high numbers of underprivileged children. Funds raised will be going towards two schools very close to the office. Please donate by end of day Fri 22nd Jan - we’ve kept the timeframe short given that term has already started.
We are extremely grateful for GC’s support with this initiative, as all donations given during the week will be matched - so please donate where possible.
Thank you in advance,
Beam <3
