Supporting Chile in Crisis: Your Help Needed

As many already know, Chile is going through a heart-wrenching time right now, with a devastating forest fire impacting the cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar in the central part of the country. This fire has consumed thousands of homes, forcing the evacuation of several communities amidst an unrelenting heatwave. The emergency has claimed lives, with 123 people reported dead, 15 thousand homes reduced to ashes, and over 300 people missing. In response to this tragic situation, the Chilean government has declared a state of exception for catastrophe in the regions of Valparaíso, O'Higgins, Maule, Biobío, La Araucanía, and Los Lagos, seeking to mobilize all possible resources.

From Australia, where many of us are located, we often feel powerless in the face of such distant tragedies. However, we, a group of Chilean Friends, have created this initiative as a way to channel our solidarity. We invite you to donate whatever you can to help those who have lost everything in this disaster.

In the end, we will share the total amount we manage to donate to Desafío Chile, hoping to provide at least a small relief to those facing this painful reality.

Como muchos ya saben, Chile atraviesa un momento desgarrador en este momento, con un devastador incendio forestal afectando las ciudades de Valparaíso y Viña del Mar en el centro del país. Este incendio ha consumido miles de hogares, forzando la evacuación de varias comunidades en medio de una ola de calor implacable. La emergencia ha cobrado vidas, con 123 personas fallecidas, 15 mil hogares reducidos a cenizas y más de 300 personas desaparecidas. En respuesta a esta trágica situación, el Gobierno de Chile ha declarado estado de excepción por catástrofe en las regiones de Valparaíso, O'Higgins, Maule, Biobío, La Araucanía y Los Lagos, buscando movilizar todos los recursos posibles.

Desde Australia, donde muchos de nosotros nos encontramos, a menudo nos sentimos impotentes ante estas tragedias lejanas. Sin embargo, nosotros, un grupo de Amigos Chilenos, hemos creado esta iniciativa como una forma de canalizar nuestra solidaridad. Te invitamos a donar lo que puedas para ayudar a aquellos que lo han perdido todo en este desastre.
