Supporting Chris and Julia Baratto
Donation protected
Just a little update,
First off, a HUGE thank you to everyone that has donated, reached out, and offered support, I can’t thank you enough. Near and far, close friends to strangers your generosity and kindness has given Chris and Julia a glimmer of light during a very dark time. Thank you.
This past week Chris started chemo and will continue with treatment for two months, at that time oncology will reassess, until then we will be praying for a miracle.
Lessons learned, Chris and Julia unfortunately found themselves in a situation without mortgage/critical illness/life insurance. Life truly is fleeting, it can change in an instant, no one ever thinks it will happen to them, it can, trust me. Nothing can ever prepare you for the emotional or physical effects BUT this is your reminder to call your bank/insurance provider to prepare financially if tragedy was to strike. Lastly, love your people, share your time and space with the people you love, the ones that feel like sunshine ❤️
On June 12, 2023, Chris (Tiki) and Julia Baratto’s lives changed forever. They received news that Chris at age 41, has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. This devastating news came just after recovering from an extreme case of pneumonia. At this time, we don’t know much, except that it is rare and very aggressive.
Chris and Julia have been together for seventeen years. Chris needs Julia now more than ever. She will need to accompany and care for him throughout appointments, treatment and everything in between. During this time we want to be able to support them so that Julia is able to take a step back from her role as an Emergency room nurse and focus on supporting Chris. Chris works as a volunteer firefighter and just spent the last year in school studying to be a primary care paramedic, he has only been employed by BC Ambulance for eight months, and unfortunately doesn’t qualify for sick compensation.
At this time our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden, so they are able to focus on Chris and his battle with cancer. If you know either of them, you know it is with great hesitation they are accepting financial help from friends and family. I started this go fund me with hopes we can relieve a little bit of the stress they are facing at this time.
Any amount helps. If you’re not able to donate financially, keep Chris in your prayers he truly is one of the best. Best husband, best friend, best chef and best dog dad ever.
On behalf of Julia and Chris we thank you,
Love and light,
