Supporting Cliff: Rebuilding Life After Tragedy
Donation protected
In the wake of an unimaginable tragedy, we rally together to extend a helping hand to Cliff, a Marine Corps veteran whose world was shattered when he lost his beloved wife, Erika, suddenly on Christmas Day. Erika wasn't just a loving spouse and mother; she was a beacon of strength and compassion and a dear friend to many.
Her selflessness was legendary. She was always there to ask how I was doing, even when her own world was falling apart. As a devoted caretaker, she moved to Bolingbrook from Georgia to support and nurse her parents, dedicating herself to the well-being of her family amidst the challenges of a broken healthcare system. She was also a fierce advocate for her autistic teen child, Neil, ensuring they received the care, education, and opportunities they deserved.
With all she did for others, she barely had time to participate in her own life, talk to friends, find support, or face her own grief over her father's passing last year.
Now, Cliff finds himself thrust into the daunting role of a widower, responsible for picking up the pieces, caring for Neil, planning a memorial, and adjusting to life without his beloved partner. He is unable to leave his child alone to go to work and the savings is almost gone.
How Your Support Makes a Difference:
Your support is critical to Cliff during this difficult time in his life. Your donations will serve as a lifeline for him, and here are some of the ways your contribution will make a real difference:
- Bill Payment: Cliff is unable to work right now because he cannot leave his child home alone and money raised will keep the household afloat.
- Emotional Support: Provide the emotional support needed for Cliff to navigate grief, plan a memorial, and adjust to his new role as a single parent.
- Stability for Neil: Contribute to creating a stable environment for Neil, ensuring that they continue to receive the care and support Erika fought for so passionately.
- Emergency Dental Bill: Unfortunately, before we could even publish this fundraiser, another need arose - Cliff woke up in severe pain. He went to the dentist and discovered that he has an impacted and infected wisdom tooth. The surgery will be an out-of-pocket cost between $1,500 and $3,000. Your donation will help cover this unexpected expense and allow him to get this care.
Join Us in Solidarity:
In times of profound grief, our community has the power to make a difference. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help Cliff rebuild a semblance of life for himself and his child. Let's stand together in solidarity, showing compassion in the face of adversity.
Gratitude and Updates:
We commit to keeping you updated on the impact of your contributions. Your generosity will not go unnoticed, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for being a source of strength and comfort during this dark chapter in Cliff's life.
Thank you for opening your hearts and making a positive impact on a fellow human in need.
