Supporting DASHR's Community Response

Donation protected
Denver Alliance for Street Health Response (DASHR) is an organization focused on creating and supporting community-based responses to conflict and crisis. Typically, we have approached these efforts with the hopes of creating alternatives to policing and jails. Since creating our group in 2018, we have consistently found ways to respond to urgent needs in our community as well as advance transformative ideas and programs to reshape crisis response in Denver and beyond.

During the protests surrounding George Floyd's murder and Breonna Taylor's murder, Denver showed up with thousands of people in the street to demand justice. What resulted was an excessive and violent response from the city that called for immediate first aid and support. DASHR showed up  alongside countless others to serve as street medics and were part of a network of community response and support. You can read more about that effort at this link: https://denverite.com/2020/06/02/small-clinics-have-popped-up-in-capitol-hill-for-protesters-with-tear-gas-in-their-eyes and this one: https://www.hcn.org/issues/52.7/public-health-theres-already-an-alternative-to-calling-the-police

We are hoping to continue to serve our communities and coalesce this network to be a more sustainable and long-term effort for rapid response and community support. We also hope to be able to more effectively serve our unhoused community in Denver with food distribution, survival gear distribution, and medic support. To do this we need access to space.

This fundraiser is to help raise money for rent for DASHR and our partners to run a community outreach center in Denver. Funds will go towards at least one year of rent and if there is money left over after that, additional supplies and if there's enough support, paying for a dedicated staff member to facilitate access to the space.

This is a transformative effort that could have long-term implications for crisis response in Denver and will directly support BIPOC and our unhoused community. Please join us by donating to this project!
