Dollar$ for Dean!

Donation protected
On Thursday, December 24th Dean and Lisa headed out to Denver, CO to spend the holiday with their children and their families.  Within a few days of arriving, Dean was taken to the emergency room at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, CO with severe abdominal pain.  He was admitted for testing to determine the cause. The initial diagnosis was acute pancreatitis.  Shortly thereafter, they determined his kidneys were not functioning properly and he was placed on dialysis. After multiple imaging, tests, scans, and blood work, the doctors discovered a cyst on his pancreas which was putting pressure on his small intestine.  The doctors began treating his symptoms to allow his body to rest and the pancreas to heal.

After 5 weeks of being in the hospital, the fluids continued to build up in his abdomen and the pressure increased.  He was not able to eat or drink without getting sick.  His dialysis treatments increased to three times a week for approximately 4 hours each and he began spitting up bile.  The doctors were concerned he may have an obstructed pancreatic duct.   In order to perform the necessary procedure, Dean was transported to Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, CO  on Wednesday, January 27th.  A stent was inserted to allow the pancreatic fluid to drain and he was returned to Parker Adventist Hospital to recover.  Approximately one week later, his doctor made the decision to have him permanently transferred to Porter Adventist Hospital where the GI Specialists and equipment were located for his second procedure.  Once there he developed an infection and began running a fever which delayed the procedure.  On Friday, February 6th they inserted a second stent.  For the first time in several weeks, that evening Dean began to get some relief.  He was able to eat a small amount of clear liquids and sit up for about 2 hours.

At this time, Dean has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Necrosis and Renal Failure.   He is still in the hospital in Denver, CO.  Once his body is healthy enough to withstand the travel home he will be released.  His journey to recovery will be long, and during that time, we don't want him or Lisa to be worried about medical bills or finances. Once he does come home, we want their focus to be on him getting better.  If you will, keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.  Please help if you can.  Thank you!
