Support Debbie Motz's Battle With Cancer

UPDATE, 10/10/22:

Deb's surgeon said her surgery went very well. She is in pain but feeling better each day. Thank you everyone for the outpouring of love and support! This will really help Debbie ease the financial burden while she is in the next phase of her treatment and recovery.

My sister is struggling with thyroid cancer and needs our help. Deb is gearing up for a tough battle. In August, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that has metastasized to the left lymph nodes in her neck.

Deb has a great team of doctors and surgeons who have immediately put a plan in motion for her treatment. This will consist of surgery first, to remove her thyroid and lymph nodes. She will be having surgery on Friday, October 7th. She will then receive radioactive iodine treatment after she has recovered from the surgery.

Testing is still ongoing to determine the staging. She is determined to beat this cancer. We know she will get there, but she will need all the love and support she can get. 

While her medical expenses will be covered, Deb is currently on disability and won't be able to work over the coming months. Her bills will be piling up, because that's what bills do. We are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover her living expenses through her recovery. 

Deb did not want to do a GoFundMe because she didn't want to appear needy or weak. But as the family put it into words "It's not begging. It's not charity. It's community. When someone is sick, the others bind together to take care of them. People love her and want to help."

By reducing some of the financial burden we hope that Deb can focus all of her energy on fighting and recovering from cancer.
