Supporting Deer Park Nail Salon Families in Tragic Times

On June 28, 2024, a terrible accident occurred at Hawaii Nail & Spa in Deer Park, Long Island. A 64-year-old driver, suspected of being under the influence, crashed through the front window of the salon. This tragic event took the lives of four people and injured nine others.
Emilia Rennhack, an off-duty NYPD officer, was at the salon getting her nails done for a wedding. She was known for her bravery and kindness. Emilia leaves behind her husband, Detective Carl Rennhack, and a community that deeply mourns her loss.
Three employees of Hawaii Nail & Spa also died in the crash. They were known for their friendly and professional service, and their deaths have left their families, clients, and coworkers in deep sorrow.
Jiancai (Kenny) was a young father with two children, ages 5 and 10. His wife is hospitalized with multiple serious fractures. Yan Xu and Meizi Zhang were hardworking individuals with dreams for a better future. Their families now face heavy emotional and financial burdens.
This horrifying event has placed a significant burden on the victims' families. They now face the challenge of covering funeral expenses and other unexpected costs.
The victims’ family has been close family friends of mine for over 10 years. The Chen family, in particular, has been a pillar of the New York Chinese community. I own and operate a Chinese restaurant just a few blocks away from Hawaii Nail Salon and Spa, where we’ve shared many wonderful memories and customers who frequent both businesses for comfort and friendship.
The funds raised will be equally distributed among the families of the four victims. In addition, we will continue raising awareness within the community to support these families in the long term. Our organization, along with local schools and businesses, will stand by them. The funds will be transferred via check directly from our organization in a publicized news conference with community leaders and media present.
