Vandy KΣ x TMR Dismas House Fundraiser
Donation protected
This spring, Vandy Kappa Sigma is partnering with The Music Room to fundraise for Dismas House, a local nonprofit that facilitates reentry programs for men released from correctional facilities across Tennessee (https://dismas.org/ ). Several KΣ brothers have close ties with Dismas through their work with the Vanderbilt Prison Project -- we know the immense impact of their programs and are very proud to be raising money for such a great cause.
According to the Dismas team, “Our goal is to support these men as they navigate the challenging transition from prison back to the community and help them overcome the many barriers to successful reentry.” At their facility just over a mile from campus, they provide residents with “a comprehensive selection of services we cluster under the umbrella of our ‘Four Pillars of Programming,’ which are 1) basic needs, 2) health and well-being, 3) life skills, and 4) legal support.”
This work is vital to the Nashville community. In Tennessee, over 70% of those released from prison will reoffend within three years, and roughly 50% will return to prison within three years. The comprehensive support and training programs offered at Dismas use evidence-based practices to reduce recidivism rates and assist formerly incarcerated return to work and family life, fostering lasting change “from the inside-out.”
We would love your support in our fundraising efforts. The money we raise will go directly towards bolstering their programs and ensuring their staff have the resources they need to provide the most effective and lasting impact. By donating, you are, without a doubt, changing lives.
Thank you!
