Supporting Emily Through Her Open Heart Surgery

Emily Wills (Pollock) was recently married, and she and her husband Matt purchased and moved into their first home in Northern BC weeks later. Emily recently found out that due to a defective aortic valve, she is facing open heart surgery in Vancouver on December 16th to replace the valve. Emily has chosen to have the Ross Procedure done, a highly specialized cardiac surgery that will hopefully allow her to live the active lifestyle she enjoys and prevent the need for future heart surgeries for many years. Emily is a Registered Massage Therapist with her own practice and will be unable to work for 3 to 4 months while she recovers following surgery. In addition to having a mortgage payment and office expenses for her practice while she is unable to work, Emily has to fly to and from Vancouver multiple times for appointments before and after her surgery. In addition to the physical and emotional stress that Emily is dealing with, she and Matt will also face financial stress due to this unforeseen event. As a friend of Emily’s mom Sandy, and a mother myself, I have decided to create this Go Fund Me page to request donations of any amount to alleviate some of the financial burdens this young couple faces.
