Supporting Gaylene and her Fiancé
Donation protected
Hi my name is Amanda and I'm writing you today to share a story of love and asking for your support for my friend Gaylene Keyes and her fiance Jamie Killam.
Gaylene and Jamie are newly engaged and reconnected after many years and watching them fall in love again has been a beautiful thing to watch. They have been looking forward to many years together when tragedy struck on September 13 when Jamie was in an accident. I will share Gaylene's own words and updates:
My fiancée Jamie was driving the cement truck that crashed at the Kootenay lake ferry dock. We are not sure what happened to cause the truck to lose it’s brakes. Jamie made a choice to put his life on the line in order to save other lives as there were a large number of cars waiting to board the ferry. Jamie did everything he could to save lives and is now fighting for his own life. Would everyone on my friends list please say a prayer, smudge, or send healing energy. Thank you all, he is my best friend and I can’t lose him.
*** UPDATE ***
September 22nd 2022
after meeting with the doctor yesterday the intubation tube was removed as Jamie has been breathing on his own for a couple days. The doctor said Jamie is scoring a 4 on the glascow coma scale which is 1-6, with 6 being the best score. He is not as hopefull as Renee and I but he was clear when he said he really did not know what the outcome was going to be. Jamie is reactive to pain, and does open his eyes and move his limbs, but we are not sure if this is all spontaneous or if some is purposeful. The doctor said it could take weeks or months to know what his outcome might look like. Because there is nothing medically they are doing for him, the doctor is willing to transfer him back to Cranbrook until he wakes up and then we will return to Kelowna where he will receive excellent rehabilitation services for as long as it takes. We are just waiting on Cranbrook to figure things out on their side as a doctor there is already willing to accept him.
Please continue to keep him in your prayers and send positive energy.
Jamie remains in a coma, however he has had some reaction to my voice and when Renee tickled the bottom of his feet, he pulled his feet away
I will be in Kelowna with him until he can come home.
Lots of love
Gaylene is by Jamie's side in Kelowna untill he comes home to the Kootenays. Gaylene is prepared for the worst but also is ready too work hard to be there to support Jamie. Gaylenes impact and history of supporting others in our community is large and has big impact. So many of us know that she's the friend you could call in crisis at any hour of the day and she would be there for you, we need to come support her now so that she can be there for Jamie. Gaylene is already racking up hotel and food bills with being out of town, I am hoping we can support her with some of these costs, also we don't know how long of a road ahead of them they have with soo many unknowns help with bills will go a long way in supporting them both.
