Supporting Girls' Education Globally!

Hey there, amazing supporters!

My name is Deborah, and I am a high school Junior. I embarked on a mission at the end of my sophomore year to create a positive change. Moving from Ethiopia to the US during my freshman year left me feeling a bit lost, but it also ignited a passion within me – a passion for contributing to my community, especially to girls in need of education in rural areas. Together with some of my amazing friends, (Zuri, Cassey, Sanjana, Cora, Syd, Elysia) we started GEM, which stands for "Girls Education Matters," with the goal of helping girls globally access the privilege of education that we've been so fortunate to experience.

We're reaching out to you because we believe in the power of education. Imagine a world where every girl has the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve her dreams. It's not just a dream; it's a goal we're passionate about, and a goal we’re striving to make a reality.

I am thrilled to share the incredible initiatives we're working on through our GEM club to make a difference in the lives of others. Here's a glimpse into the transformative events we're organizing and how you can help make this all possible.

1. Christmas Shoe Box Drive:

We're spreading joy this holiday season through our Christmas Shoe Box Drive. We're crafting individualized boxes filled with toys and fun items for kids from specific orphanages like Hope for the Fatherless and Strong Heart. With your support, we're bringing smiles to these children's faces, one shoebox at a time. Additionally, we're partnering with World Outreach Love (WOL) to extend our reach and make an even larger impact.

2. Solar Project:

Many third world countries struggle with access to reliable electricity. Through our Solar Project, we're providing mini solar-powered light projectors to individual students. These projectors will enable students to study and pursue their education even in the darkness. Your contribution fuels this initiative, bringing illumination to young minds.

4. Pad Project:

Menstrual hygiene is essential for the well-being of women. Through our Pad Project, we're providing pads and undergarments, introducing reusable pads as an eco-friendly and sustainable solution. This initiative not only ensures women have access to sanitary products but also ensures that they have something sustainable that can last large periods of time.
